Born 1950. Retired animal breeder at the Institut de l'Elevage in Paris, France. Since 1980 he was responsible for the conservation of endangered breeds of cattle in France. The population of the Villard de Lans cattle, for example, is nowadays again capable to survive. Laurent Avon himself keeps a breeding group. During the last years, he had also been in charge of the conservation of endangered breeds of goats and sheep. Since the very beginnings, he has been actively working for SAVE. He already participated in the precursor committee, the "informal meetings at the Lake of Constance" focusing on the exchange of experiences between NGOs.
