Born in 1961. Studies of Biology, main subject Ethnobotany at the University of Bale, MSc in Biology. Dissertation about traditional cultivation of cereals and its accompanying flora in the French region Hautes Alpes.
Within the frame on the national exhibition for experimental archaeology "Lake Dwelling Country", he directed the Department for Cultivated Plants and their Processing. For the botanical gardens of Zurich and Bale, he organised various exhibitions about agriculturally used plants and medicinal plants. At present, he is executive director of the Swiss foundation Pro Specie Rara. In a honorary function, he directs the Technical Committee of the botanical garden of Brüglingen (Bale).
