Born in 1952. Biologist and instructor. Since 1984 he is running an organic farm in the Swiss Prealps in which he has continually extended into a well known ecological demonstration farm, focusing on the breeding of endangered breeds of farm animals and plant varieties. His farm became a so called Ark Farm which has formed the Ark Farm concepts in the German speaking countries. That's why Pavel is seen as father of the Ark Farms. The fruit collection counts 700 fruit and 100 berry varieties. A tree nursery is attached to the farm, specialised in raising around 400 of the most endangered varieties of fruits and wild fruits. As an emigrant from the former Czechoslovakian Republic, he is interested in the agricultural genetic resources of his home country. Thus, he took part from the beginning, when Grunenfelder became active in Prague with Pro Specie Rara. Today he still advises the projects in the Carpathians. He chaired the association for the preparation of the SAVE Foundation and acts now as treasurer of the Foundation.
