<bodoi@hu.inter.net> Born 1932. Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, retired from the leadership of Animal Breeding Departement of the University of Veterinary Science Budapest/Hungary. Now Professor at the Debrecen University of Agriculture. He has been involved in the activity of conservation of genetic resources since 1961, when he started to work in preservation of Hungarian Grey cattle, Mangalica pigs and Racka sheep at the Hortobagy State Farm (70'000 ha). As a professor, he continued to work in this field on an international level. Member of the former Expert Panel of FAO and the Working Group for conservation of genetic resources in EAAP. He organized the genetic resources session at the World Conference in Edinburgh and was co-author of the report on conservation of European animal genetic resources in Guelph. He is Chairman of DAGENE (Danubian Alliance for Gene Conservation in Animal Species) and president of two Hungarian rare breeds associations (Hungarian Grey cattle, Furioso horse breed) and an international one (Lipizzan horses). For his work he received the silver medal "Pro Natura" from the Hungarian Ministry of Protection of Environment and the "distinction pour services eminents" from EAAP. He chaired SAVE Foundation for 2001-2003.
